Embrace the Change

On the 45th anniversary
of Martin’s “I Have a Dream”
Barack will accept the nomination
and the voters will certainly scream

Our country now more accepting
of his character not his skin
having faith in him as a person
Democrats believe he can win

A historic time for our nation
when a black man could be President
this day will written in history
and our pride will be evident

Removing Bush from the Whitehouse
in November we will arrange
Barack is the change we can believe in
and I say “Embrace the Change!”

Victorious Vote!

Will it be Barack
or maybe Hillary
who’s gonna win
the Democratic nominee

2008
will be a new choice
so many voters
have shared their voice

Tonight’s the last night
to decide a win
and soon the White House
they’ll be sitting in!

6-4-08 Update...

Looks like Barack is planning to move
he rallied the voters and got them to groove
through political red tape and press backlash
his election campaign earned quite some cash

He stepped up to the pitcher’s mound
and proved he’s the best candidate around
Well then, don’t you know
he’s going to the big show?

Rooms at his new place? There’s quite a few
he’s moving to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue!

Remembering 9/11

Heroes and innocent lives we’ll never forget
A day that surely lives in infamy
you can bet
The tears and anger
still with us today
But I always think of them when I pray

To Freely Express...

...what is on one's mind,
to see it in print, signed,
affirms the premise, swirling in the brain,
from random thought to sweet refrain.
Like any work of art, the seeing
is the grand believing,
an idea transformed with color and form
or letters typed to form words of norm.
Creative affirmation,
positive acclimation,
free from suppression,
free expression!

Creation Nation

The poets artistically create action
with an occaisional sexual connotation
which constantly brings satisfaction
here and there, in our fandom nation
the poets have formed a federation
we gather everywhere in aggregation
this era should be known as the Poet Generation!

A quick lesson on Haiku's:

Haiku...three unrhymed lines...5-7-5 syllables...describes scenes in nature.
Senryu...same pattern as haiku...not about the natural world, but about human nature.
Tanka...a five line cousin of haiku...2-3-2-3-3
Cinquain...22 syllables...2-4-6-8-2

Here's a few samples:

the lure of the underground
mystery within
